Today I feel very slim and clean.
For breakfast, soy yogurt with granola.
During the day I snacked on an apple, granola, some crackers, a clementine, and a juice.
For lunch when I got home I made couscous and boiled edamame, then pureed banana and peanut butter and cocoa powder to make a yummy pudding.
I just had some pasta with a tomato sauce that I cooked up.
I probably didn't eat as much as I should have.

Foray into Veganism I
Starting this morning, I decided it would be Vegan Week. I'm tired of feeling bloated and guilty about eating animal products.
So far I feel really good. This morning I had soy yogurt (nothing new) with granola and a few leftover waffles that I just realized were probably made with milk or egg. I just steamed some broccoli and baby red bell peppers with salt, ate them with rice and hummus and pita. For dessert I had a few bites of a mango-strawberry salad and a glass of chocolate soy milk. Everything tasted really good and I didn't miss cheese on anything.
I'll stop on Sunday, unless I really like it and want to keep going. As long as I remember to eat beans or peanut butter I should be okay. I don't think I'll be too obsessive; I will eat honey, not worry about bone-bleached white sugar and flour, and not stress out if I slip up. Maybe I'll permanently alter my diet; I don't really drink milk as it is and rarely eat eggs.
This feels really good.
Unlike the end of vacation...

[4/23/2010 11:32:58 PM] Chris Litchfield: i'm sorry that things have gone south between us, it would seem. i don't know what to say.
[4/23/2010 11:33:08 PM] Chris Litchfield: except that i hope you are ok.
I wonder, whose fault is this?
Weird. Oh, right, it is
your fucking fault.
It was really lovely to see you
and talk to you that weekend you were home.
Oh, wait.
You didn't contact me. At all.
This is your fucking fault.
I cannot
tolerate you
anymore.
I don't even want to be your
friend
or your
other half
or someone you need
anymore.
Well done. You've only hurt yourself.
bitch about you
in my blog if I
want to.

Tired and also a fuckup, but at least I think I'm a good friend...
Been doing exciting things with exciting people
and I still feel atrophied and stagnant and
I wish I could appreciate all this beauty but it is
so hard even to keep my eyes open sometimes.
"With a broken sink for a face
and a head that
just takes up space,
he's not half right, he's not
half right."

Someone left a comment on my formspring:
"I think you are very beautiful."
It made me smile and then get into a poetic mood,
which is fitting seeing as it's
National Poetry Month.
I used to have a livejournal.
I would write like this,
in lines, so that everything I typed
seemed like poetry.

A while ago I wanted to collect lullabies
like a dreamcatcher catches dreams.
Find all the songs that lulled mothers' babies to sleep.
I only remember one clearly
"Numi, numi, yaldah ti, numi numi ni,"
with a beautiful Israeli melody
and then a rough translation in English.
I can't wait to sing it to my children
(though I have a long way yet).
"I believe in the power of people.
And in music, and in art, and in love.
But nobody's looking out for us
except ourselves."

I put off homework by cooking elaborate meals!
I have nothing much to say, except that it has been sunny and I have been so happy because of it.
